Load a program for computing ocean-tide loading

The aim is to provide this capability in in a form that will I hope be straightforward to use, while at the same time allowing flexibility in combining different tidal and loading models — of which there are now a great many. A particular strength of this package is the ability to combine local and global models without a lot of effort in defining the boundaries between them.

The package also includes programs to allow the computed loads to be converted into harmonic constants for any type of tide including the ocean tide , and to compute the tide in the time domain from these harmomic constants.

For completeness a program for direct computation of the solid-Earth body tides is also included. The complete package a gzipped tar file is available here; the total size is just over Mbytes. However, after source code has been compiled, and the compressed ASCII files have been converted to local binary versions and removed, the total size will be about 1. If you are interested in learning more but do not want to download the entire package, here is a PDF of the manual and the man pages.

Most ocean models are given on a 0. Otherwise some regridding is necessary. Our solution is to regrid the model gradually towards the station. Schematically this process is given in Figure 3.

A revised version has been installed today at UTC.

February 05, Alternative loading Greens function available For decades the load convolution used an elastic Greens function based on the Gutenberg-Bullen earth model. Baker, of the total observed tide prior to correction for Earth body tides and OTL. In this database we only provide ocean tide coefficients. Thus, we use TPXO7. In some cases the SAL values are the same as those used to convert observed tide e.

For BPR and CTG data, which are obtained from direct analyses of sea surface elevation, the SAL model provides a mechanism for converting ocean tide to the elevations that should be measured by satellite altimeters. References Agnew, D.
